The Burn
About This Spot
Stepping into The Burn in Tokyo’s Kita-Aoyama neighborhood is like discovering a hidden retreat where the hum of the city softens and thoughtful flavors take center stage. Nestled just beneath Aoyama-itchome station, this basement locale unfolds with an inviting warmth — a space where wood and muted lighting mingle, setting a calm and unhurried rhythm to your meal. It’s the kind of place that welcomes you to linger, whether you’ve come for a relaxed dinner or a weekend brunch with friends.
The Burn carries the rare quality of bridging worlds: here, the vibrant spirit of classic American comfort food meets a mindful and creative approach to dining that speaks to both meat lovers and plant-based eaters. You might find yourself savoring a burger that’s dripping with carefully melted cheese, or drawn to a roasted cauliflower dish that reveals unexpected layers of spice and earthiness — each plate thoughtfully composed and unpretentious.
At the heart of the experience is a gentle fusion of familiar and novel tastes, supported by an attentive team who bring a quiet grace to their service. English is spoken with ease, making every visit approachable for travelers and locals alike, and creating a sense of belonging that’s especially appreciated in a cosmopolitan city.
The Burn’s atmosphere encourages connection — whether it’s sharing a freshly poured cocktail infused with seasonal fruits or settling into a glass of wine chosen to complement the smokiness of a grilled Wagyu sirloin. Within these walls, conversations flow comfortably, accompanied by the subtle energy of a space that respects both the solitude of a solo diner and the conviviality of a gathered group.
For those drawn to discovering something off the beaten path — a spot where the joy of food isn’t shouted but quietly celebrated — The Burn offers a warm, unassuming space to make memories over thoughtfully prepared dishes and the gentle art of hospitality.

Amazing place catering for both vegans and meat eaters which was a big help for my group of friends as we have both and find it very difficult to eat in Tokyo. The staff speak good English so is helpful if you don’t speak Japanese. As my friends were foreigners but all speak Japanese he was kind enough to speak to us in Japanese which some places don’t do, so I appreciated that. The food was exceptional. Although I’m not vegan, I had a lot of the vegan options and really recommend the carrot dish. Great dessert and lovely birthday plate for birthdays. Also a good wine selection and interesting cocktails! Will definitely be going back again!

The plain burger was so satisfying. If you like professional burger and like the spacious restaurants without annoying music on , this place is for youIt comes with french fries and roobis tea. Staff are great in terms of hospitality and functionality . Their English is very good. Will definitely come back:)

We have been here twice now, and words can’t describe the experience you will have if you visit this wonderful restaurant. The ambiance and fusion cuisine is unmatched. It’s a place for both vegetarian and steak lovers. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Trying the aged steak is a must! Best part is the staff…pure class. Honda San and the head chef, Saki San are wonderful and kind. We will come many more times! Thank you!

The Burn in the Aoyama area has been on my bucket list since it first opened about two years ago so I knew I had to try it as soon as I arrived in Tokyo. The chef and owner of the restaurant is Chef Fumio Yonezawa, who is a former chef at Michelin star restaurant Jean-Georges in New York and Jean-Georges in Tokyo. Since we got to Tokyo during the COVID State of Emergency, we only did takeout, but we loved everything about this restaurant from the chic and modern interior design to the food and service. We got the cheddar beef bowl (we highly recommend adding a sunny side up egg to it) and the steak bowl on our first visit and loved both. The steak is simple yet flavorful while the cheddar beef bowl is almost like a combination between a chili bowl and sukiyaki beef. Once in a while they have the wagyu hamburger steak for takeout, but they only have 30 orders and it usually sells out within 30 minutes. We were lucky enough to get a set this past weekend and would definitely want to order it again the next time we can place an order of it. Each set comes with two patties and pasta. The chef recommends that you eat about half of the hamburger steak as is and then break it into pieces to make it into a bolognese pasta at the end. The restaurant is inside the basement of the Aoyama Building and is a little hard to find if you’re coming from street level so I recommend going from the exit inside the Aoyama Itchome Station.

Vegan foods are awesome. You will be full soon. Visited again with new colleagues. A roasted cauliflower is the best.

Great restaurant with a very nice ambience, perfect place for dinner. They have vegan options and vegan course menu — everything we tried was delicious and unique! Roasted cauliflower is a must! Wine selection was good too. People working there were extremely attentive and friendly

The Burn was so good!!! My wife close this restaurant as a surprise for me and I was so delighted. Everything we ate was perfect. Go here and eat the Liver Pate, the Garlic broccoli, the beetroot hummus and the bolognese pasta. So delicious! Looking forward to going again soon. Five stars!
